JDM stands for Jim, Dad & Mom — and that family spirit has guided everything we do since day one.
Where It Started
JDM Auto Service has always been a family business, right down to the name. JDM stands for Jim, Dad & Mom.
Jim Moravec graduated from SIU-Carbondale with a degree in automotive technology. He then opened JDM Auto Service in Huntley, Illinois, with his parents.
2001
A New Chapter
Jim and his wife, Robin, bought out his parents' share of the business and took over running the shop together.
2002
Building Our Home
Their original location was set to be torn down to widen Route 47, so Jim and Robin built the shop we're in today.
2013
The Third Generation
Their son, Jimmy, joined the team as a full-time technician. That made him the third generation of Moravecs at JDM.
2025
Carrying On Jim's Legacy
On April 21, 2025, we lost Jim unexpectedly on his way home from the shop. He will always be remembered as a kind, honest and hardworking man who loved his family. Robin now leads the company, and she and Jimmy are proud to carry Jim's legacy forward.
